Support Me

In May 2017, at 49 years of age, I had a partial glossectomy and neck dissection after a tongue cancer diagnosis. I was one of the fortunate ones who was diagnosed early and treated quickly (and had great health insurance through my husband's employer), I also want to give a shout out to Professor Patrick Ha, UCSF, Head and Neck Surgery - couldn't have asked for a kinder, more qualified, amazing surgeon and just a nice person, and also my wonderful dentist Dr Vivian Broadway and her team - Dr Broadway was the first person I reached out to with concerns and she acted quickly and calmly referring me to an oral surgeon for a biopsy. Others are not so lucky. It has been a struggle, both physically and mentally, but now it is time for me to give back and by taking part in the Oral Cancer Foundation, San Francisco 5K on the 28th April 2019 (2 years from my diagnosis),  I hope to raise awareness and some much needed funds for the continued research into this devastating disease. Thank you for your support.

(Added an after surgery photo for the sympathy vote).
